New Jersey drug charges: Man accused of selling catnip cocktail

Legal drugs often have more than one use. Often, they can be used in ways other than originally intended with beneficial results. Unfortunately, police in New Jersey claim that the use of what is called "catnip cocktail" is dangerous to humans. They further state that they have recently arrested a 48-year-old man -- who now faces drug charges -- for selling it out of a nutrition store.

Catnip cocktail, according to reports, is a solution that is typically used to sedate cats. However, when humans consume it, it is said to have similar effects to Gamma-Hydroxybutyric Acid, also known as the date rape drug. Law enforcement officials claim that they first encountered its use in July 2018 after they were called to a strip mall to investigate a man allegedly acting bizarrely.

The man reportedly had several bottles of the cocktail in his possession as well as a receipt indicating that it was purchased at Nutrition Zone, a store in the same strip mall. After other incidents of people taking the cocktail, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant of the store, allegedly resulting in the discovery of multiple bottles of the cocktail as well as bottles of human growth hormone, mixing agent, prohormones and several rifle magazines. Authorities claim that the fact that the cocktail was hidden from customer view and not advertised as being for sell proves that the man knew he should not be selling it.

Unfortunately, the 48-year-old faces several drug charges in addition to charges of possessing high capacity magazines. As a result of the allegations against him in New Jersey, the man has several life-changing decisions to make. To ensure that he is prepared to make these decisions, he may benefit from having an experienced criminal defense attorney guiding him.
