Baseball player Lenny Dykstra faces drug charges

Certain services such as Uber have changed how people get from place to place. While convenient, an argument between a driver and a rider often turns into a situation of one person's word against another's if there is no one else present in the vehicle. Unfortunately, former baseball player Lenny Dykstra now faces drug charges, among others, in New Jersey after an alleged incident with an Uber driver.

The incident happened in May. Dykstra and the Uber driver both have different versions of events. According to Dykstra, the driver threatened him and attempted to kidnap him. Dykstra claimed at a news conference following the alleged incident that he requested to change the destination of the ride, and that the driver locked the doors and began speeding. Dykstra claims that he feared for his life.

The Uber driver says that Dykstra held a gun to his head. However, police say that no gun was found. Reports indicate that police did find cocaine and methamphetamine in Dykstra's possession when they searched him.

As a result of the incident, Dykstra faces both drug charges and a charge of making terroristic threats. If convicted, he could spend 10 years behind bars. Despite the high stakes of criminal allegations, many people without proper legal training are unsure how to respond to charges or what decisions to make as they maneuver through the process. As such, many in New Jersey accused of a crime hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to examine the details of their case and create an appropriate plan of action.
