EMS chief charged with DWI in New Jersey

Many people in New Jersey and across the country dedicate their lives to helping others. While there are a variety of ways to do this, many do so by working in the field of emergency medical services. Despite their desire to help, these professionals can also find themselves facing criminal accusations. In fact, an EMS chief has recently been charged with DWI.

Police reports indicate that they were called one afternoon on a day in July. According to reports, callers claimed that the driver of a sports utility vehicle was swerving across the road. Reports claim that the driver almost caused several different accidents.

When police told the man why he had been pulled over, reports indicate that he appeared to be surprised. He reportedly claimed that he had only consumed two drinks at a bar. However, police say that he was unable to successfully perform basic field sobriety tests, such as raising his foot 6 inches from the ground.

He was ultimately arrested and now faces charges related to reckless driving, drunk driving and failing to maintain his lane. His wife was called to the scene to pick him up. As a result of the charges against him, he was suspended without pay from his job as a New York City Fire Department EMS chief.

Accusations of DWI can often have far-reaching ramifications for people in New Jersey. In addition to the consequences they may face if convicted, many people also face ramifications at their places of employment. Because of the high stakes associated with such accusations, most people want an experienced criminal defense attorney on their side to help them create the most effective response.
