New Jersey man charged with DWI

Drinking and driving do not go together. A charge of DWI can really slow down one's ability to save money and get places. A New Jersey man recently accused of DWI is now dealing with the consequences of drunk driving and other charges.

The man was observed driving in the early morning hours of a recent Sunday morning in March. Police claim that the driver failed to stay in his lane, which led to the traffic stop. Upon pulling the driver over, a policeman says that he detected the odor of alcohol on the man's breath. Although the man said that he had only had two drinks, he was asked to perform sobriety tests and failed.

After failing the test, the individual was taken to the police station for booking and was later released into the care of a sober adult. He was eventually charged with DWI, failure to keep right, reckless driving and unsafe lane change. The 21-year-old will have to later appear in court to defend himself.

In order to find the man guilty of the DWI, it must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the individual was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .08 or more or that he was exhibiting impaired behavior. If the jury concludes that the prosecution has met its burden of proof, the man could be convicted of the charges. Persons accused of crime in New Jersey have the option to hire a criminal defense attorney who can help build a strong defense against charges of drunk driving and pursue the most favorable result possible.
