Task Force arrests 2 Trenton men on drug, weapons charges

According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, a collaborative task force endeavor with the U. S. Marshal's Service for New Jersey and New York Fugitive Task Force, resulted in the arrest of two New Jersey men. Multiple criminal charges have been filed against them, including burglary, drug possession, assault and illegal possession of firearms. The suspects, ages 26 and 29, were roommates residing in Trenton.

Authorities stated they had been seeking the first suspect, age 26, from a warrant issued in December 2013 on assault, burglary and weapons charges. According to Mercer County Sheriff's Office, upon his arrest, the man had been in possession of 40 packs of heroin, about $1,000 in cash and a .380 semi-automatic pistol that was loaded. He was apprehended on South Broad Street in the 1000 block. Authorities believe the man was intending to sell the heroin.

The man's roommate, 29, is a convicted felon and forbidden to carry a weapon in the state of New Jersey. The suspect, who has a history of felony convictions, had also been charged with possession of heroin. Investigators believe he was intending to sell the drug in a school area.

Both men were arrested on charges of resisting arrest, illegal possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense and possession of heroin. The two men were booked with the Trenton Police Department.

In New Jersey, a criminal offense or a felony has many complicated layers of severity, depending on the offense and nature of the charge. These may range from fourth degree to first degree and have varying fines and incarceration penalties. If a first offender is apprehended and charged with criminal charges involving drugs, weapons or assault, he or she may be eligible for a diversionary program.

If you have been arrested on criminal charges or a felony, your options may decrease with time, so it is in your best interests to seek advice as soon as possible.
